Step 1 Always Be Safe
Be cautious when handling electronics, as some components can retain a charge for over an hour even after being unplugged. If you need to touch parts that may still hold a charge, always grasp them by the edges and avoid contact with any metallic surfaces or capacitors.
If your electronics were just unplugged, you should wait a bit before working on them.
Step 2 Remove The Screws around the Perimeter of the Shell
Flip the system over to gain access to the 6 #2 Phillips Head screws that hold the case together.
Step 3 Remove The Top Half of The Shell
Flip the system back over and slide the top cover off.
Step 4 Remove the screws securing the buttons to the top half
Remove the 4 #2 Philips Head Screws That Hold the Top Lid and buttons to the top half
Be careful as they are under spring tension so they may try to jump out before your ready
Step 5 Remove The Top Lid
To remove the lid just lift the shell till it is around 90 degree angle to the lid then twist the lid to release the pin on the left side of the lid. it should not take any force to remove it from the shell.
Step 6 Remove The Buttons and DVD indicator
To remove the buttons simply push in the tabs on either side of the button and push it out
Step 7 Remove the Memory Card and Controller Ports
Unplug the cable coming from the Memory Card and Controller Ports and unroute it from the cable tie.
remove the 2 #2 Phillips Head screws holding the ports on to the case
Step 8 Remove The Power Supply
Remove The 2 #2 Phillips Head screws holding on The power supply, then angle it slightly and pull it out.
Step 9 Remove The Disc Drive
To remove the DVD Drive Just pull up on the 2 cables connected to the motherboard to release them, then pull off the DVD Drive
Step 10 Remove The Metal Shielding
Remove the 4x #2 Philips head screws, then simply pull up carefully on the edges of the shield till it is released.
Step 11 Remove The Motherboard and Shielding
There are 4x #2 Philips head screws securing the motherboard to the case, once removed you can lift the motherboard and interference shielding off of the shell
